Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage projects for contaminated site assessments, hazardous waste site characterization, regulatory permitting services.
  • Prepare engineering design, construction, planning, and environmental reports for contaminated site assessments and remediation treatment systems.
  • Undertake technical reporting with a view to developing interpretative skills in the analysis of results from investigations:
    • Environmental assessment and planning including baseline environmental investigations, due diligence investigations, environmental hazard identification, and/or risk assessment.
    • Assist with contaminated site assessments, hazardous waste site characterization, regulatory permitting services.
    • Remediation system performance optimization, monitoring, and reporting.
    • Data management e.g., use of ESdat, EQuIS, and similar tools, interpretation, and reporting.
    • Environmental audits and review of compliance.
  • Contribute to projects with a major focus on data collection and processing.
  • Maintain program/project timelines and specific schedule to assure timely completion of work in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Internal communication (Project Manager, Office Manager, Senior Staff) necessary to achieve program/project goals, timeliness, and quality management objectives.
  • Work in a collaborative way, taking direction from and supporting senior staff, to achieve project goals and meet deadlines.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with both new and existing clients, being able to effectively represent WSP when required.
  • Demonstrate Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) excellence, including but not limited to, entering HSSE learnings into WSP's learnings database.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Geology, or Equivalent Course.
  • Minimum 7-10 years experience in the environmental field.
  • Experience in software/tools such as ESdat, EQuIS, ArcGIS, or QGIS desired but not required.
  • Working in international and diverse environments and demonstrates competence in relevant technical discipline.
  • Demonstrates understanding of applicable legislation, standards, guidelines, codes of practice and the like.
  • Ability to prepare and format quality technical information as required (such as reports, memos, presentations, models, software or data) on small to medium projects.
  • Must have a strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborates effectively with others across functions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and MS Teams.
  • Self-starter and stays flexible for when priorities quickly change.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently on global networked computers using current software applications.
  • Strong team worker, with enthusiastic, can-do approach, with ability to coordinate and work as one team.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively as a team.
