Hi! We're Smartsourcing, and were looking for a Senior Bookkeeper to join our team full-time and onsite. In this role, you'll take ownership of client bookkeeping deliverables, provide trusted advisory support, and mentor junior bookkeepers while ensuring compliance, accuracy, and an exceptional client experience.

Your Role as Senior Bookkeeper

As a Senior Bookkeeper, you'll work with autonomy and confidence in managing day-to-day bookkeeping and compliance tasks for Australian clients. You'll act as a trusted advisor, support month-end and compliance deliverables, and review work completed by junior team members. You'll play a key role in maintaining strong client relationships, improving internal processes, and fostering a positive, high-performance team environment.

Key Responsibilities

Client & Stakeholder Management

• Act as a trusted advisor to clients by providing confident, practical bookkeeping and operational advice
• Build strong, long-term client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional service
• Understand client needs and resolve issues efficiently and professionally

Bookkeeping & Compliance

• Review compliance work prepared by junior staff
• Prepare and/or review:
• BAS, IAS, and Payroll Tax
• Month-end workbooks
• Year-end workbooks for tax and audit purposes
• Manage accounts payable activities as required, including:
• Scheduling payments based on instructions
• Uploading payment files to banking platforms
• Liaising with suppliers on behalf of clients

Month-End & Reporting

• Review month-end deliverables to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
• Ensure bookkeeping records comply with Australian accounting standards and client requirements

Team Leadership & Mentoring

• Manage your own workflow and support the workflow of bookkeepers reporting to you
• Mentor and coach junior staff to support skill development and performance improvement
• Provide clear, constructive feedback and foster a positive, supportive team environment
• Provide coverage and support for team members during leave periods

Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve bookkeeping processes and workflows
• Recommend and implement best practices to improve efficiency and service quality

What Makes You a Strong Fit

• Bachelor's degree in accountancy or a related field
• 45 years of solid Australian client bookkeeping experience
• Advanced working knowledge of Xero, Dext, and MS Office
• Comfortable working independently and making informed decisions
