The Qualifications We Seek
- Hold a CA or CPA qualification with at least 5+ years of end-to-end Australian taxation experience
- Demonstrate hands-on experience preparing and lodging Australian tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts, and companies
- Exhibit strong expertise in Australian tax compliance workflows, including preparation of financial statements, income tax returns, and BAS/IAS
- Apply in-depth knowledge of ATO regulations and lodgement processes, including GST, BAS/IAS cycles, and key compliance risk areas
- Utilize advanced proficiency in Xero, along with MYOB and/or QuickBooks, for end-to-end accounting and tax workflows
- Advanced proficiency in Xero (MYOB or QuickBooks is a plus)
- Communicate clearly and professionally in English, delivering client-ready written and verbal outputs
- Exercise sound professional judgment to resolve issues independently and escalate appropriately when required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and KPI reporting
- Exposure to ASIC compliance and company filings
- Familiarity with the full Xero ecosystem (Practice Manager, Tax, Workpapers)

Your Daily Tasks
Tax Compliance & Financial Reporting
- Prepare year-end and interim financial statements with complete working papers and review notes
- Prepare and lodge income tax returns for individuals, sole traders, companies, and trusts, ensuring alignment with supporting documents
- Prepare and reconcile BAS, IAS, and GST filings, maintaining data integrity across accounting records
- Complete FBT and CGT calculations, including applicable concessions
- Manage compliance calendars, track outstanding items, and ensure timely lodgements
- Identify tax planning opportunities and translate legislation into practical, compliant outcomes
Payroll & Employment Compliance
- Oversee payroll compliance, including STP processes, reconciliations, and payroll tax support
- Reconcile wages, PAYG withholding, and superannuation, resolving discrepancies with clear audit trails
- Address payroll-related queries and escalate matters requiring advisory input
Accounting & Advisory Support
- Analyze financial performance through management reporting and trend analysis
- Support preparation of budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and KPI reports
- Contribute to business structuring, succession planning, and benchmarking analysis
- Identify risks and opportunities, providing actionable recommendations
- Support grant-related financial reporting and data collation
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Manage day-to-day client communication via email and calls
- Request and track required information, maintaining clear documentation of interactions
- Translate technical tax matters into clear, client-ready summaries
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders on complex, high-value engagements
Corporate Compliance & Administration
- Support ASIC-related documentation and company compliance requirements
- Assist with ATO payment plans and compliance tracking, escalating urgent risks
Quality, Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain high-quality working papers, templates, and documentation standards
- Identify recurring issues and recommend process improvements
- Contribute to workflow optimization, system enhancements, and standardization
Team Leadership & Support
- Review work of team members for accuracy, compliance, and consistency
- Provide coaching on reconciliations, BAS processes, and working paper standards
- Deliver internal training and support knowledge sharing initiatives
- Escalate risks early and support overall team performance
