The purpose of the Senior Accountants/Manager role is to be a highly productive and functioning member of the tax team and provide accurate and timely compliance and business services to a diverse range of clients. They will also provide support to the Tax Directors and senior staff.
Work Schedule: 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday
Work Setup:
- Hybrid
- Required onsite during monthly and quarterly team meetings and when required by the manager/client.
JOB RESPONSBILITIES:
Tax and Business Advisory
- Monitor compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
- Communicate proactively with clients and engagement partners regarding opportunities and other significant matters.
- Maintain technical expertise in various tax areas related to industry specialization and develop technical capabilities through coaching, mentoring and attendance of relevant workshops/industry seminars.
Accounting
- Review/Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for a range of entities and multi entity groups.
- Review/Prepare and review business and income activity statements.
- Review/Prepare tax returns.
- Bookkeeping, as required.
- Review and investigate inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports.
- Respond to queries from clients, Accountants, Trustees, Auditors, ATO etc. in a timely manner. Manage workflow, plan and organize to cater for demanding periods.
- Management of the disbursement of WIP - to be done weekly.
- Make recommendations on accounting processes and practices.
- Meet with other accountants to discuss cross-team issues
- Make recommendations on accounting processes/procedures
- Meet CPD training requirements
- Undertake additional training and self-development activities to broaden technical and non-technical competencies
- Client relationship management including optimal client service and advisory outcomes.
Who we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CA qualification (or currently pursuing) is highly preferred.
- 8–10 years of experience working in an Australian accounting firm with strong exposure to Australian taxation and financial reporting.
- Proven experience preparing and reviewing financial statements, tax returns, BAS, and IAS for various entity structures.
- Strong understanding of Australian tax legislation, ATO requirements, and accounting standards.
- Experience handling multi-entity group structures and complex financial reporting engagements.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve financial issues.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills when dealing with clients, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or similar cloud-based accounting platforms, along with strong Microsoft Excel skills.
