The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing general ledger accounting operations, month-end close activities, account reconciliations, and financial reporting processes for a multi-entity healthcare organization. This role begins with reconciliation review and standardization initiatives before transitioning into ownership of the accounting function, including management of staff accountants and oversight of close processes.
Job Description
• Own monthly close activities and general ledger accounting across multiple entities, including journal entries, accruals, intercompany transactions, and consolidation activities.
• Ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and compliant with US GAAP requirements.
• Maintain close calendars, review controls, and standardized accounting procedures.
• Perform detailed reviews of balance sheet account reconciliations across multiple entities.
• Identify unreconciled differences, aged items, unsupported balances, and accounting discrepancies.
• Develop standardized reconciliation templates, review processes, and documentation standards.
• Strengthen accounting controls and support audit readiness initiatives.
• Manage, mentor, and review the work of staff accountants to ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting activities.
• Provide guidance on accounting processes, reconciliations, and month-end close requirements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve accounting efficiency and scalability.
• Support external audit requirements by preparing financial schedules and documentation.
• Assist with remediation of accounting control issues and process improvements.
• Research and document technical accounting matters under US GAAP, including revenue recognition and lease accounting.
• Partner with the CFO and Controller on financial reporting, process improvement, and accounting operations.
• Communicate accounting findings, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
Required Qualifications
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of a full month-end close.
• Minimum of two (2) years reviewing the work of others, whether as a reviewer, senior, supervisor, or manager.
• Experience in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, data analysis, and reconciliation using tools such as Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, INDEX-MATCH, Power Query, and advanced reporting templates.
• Must have stable employment history.
