Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation and maintenance of financial records, ledgers, and reports in compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage and monitor the organization's budget, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and career development.
  • Ensure proper delegation of tasks and responsibilities within the accounting team.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate and facilitate external and internal audits and implement recommendations for procedural improvements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal control policies and procedures to safeguard the organization's assets.
  • Continuously monitor and enhance accounting systems and procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
  • Ensure timely reconciliation of bank statements and other financial accounts.
  • Prepare and present financial analysis and reports for senior management, including variance analysis and key financial performance metrics.
  • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to support business decision-making.
  • Manage and optimize the use of accounting software and financial systems.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and recommend system upgrades or process improvements as necessary.
  • Lead or participate in financial projects and initiatives, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support organizational goals and initiatives.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the organization's long-term financial strategy.
  • Provide financial modeling and analysis to support strategic planning and investment decisions.
  • Act as a key liaison between the accounting department and other departments, providing financial insights and support.

Qualifications, Skills And Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is required.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a management role.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
