Job Title: Senior Accountant (UK)

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior Associate who combines technical excellence in UK accounting and tax compliance with exceptional communication skills. The ideal candidate is a very good communicatorcalm, confident, and influentialsomeone who can explain complex accounting and tax matters clearly, build trust with clients, and foster collaboration across teams. In this role, you will communicate directly with clients, lead the preparation, review, and submission of client work, and review outputs from both UK and India teams, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery. You will manage UK accounting and tax compliance while providing a seamless client experience and inspiring collaboration within your team.
What you'll be doing:
Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness of client accounting records.
- Post journal adjustments at month-end, quarter-end, and year-end (including payroll journals, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet, and P&L reviews).
- Provide ad-hoc accounting support as required.
- Ensure all financial records comply with IFRS and/or UK GAAP accounting standards.
Tax & Compliance
- Review and finalize self-assessment tax returns, company accounts, company tax returns (CT600), VAT returns, rental accounts, partnership accounts and tax returns (SA800), and sole trader accounts.
- Send completed work to clients via email, providing clear summaries and questions for the client where needed.
- Conduct follow-ups with clients regarding queries and schedule calls or video meetings to discuss the work.
- Make final adjustments based on client feedback, save approvals, and submit to Companies House or HMRC.
- Keep up to date with changes in UK tax laws and regulations that impact client work.
Team & Process Management
- Review work prepared by UK and India teams, providing feedback and corrections to ensure quality and consistency.
- Give weekly feedback to teams on common areas of improvement.
- Update workflow spreadsheets throughout the accounting and tax process.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, such as templates for documentation and standardized working papers.
- Keep track of deadlines and ensure timely delivery of all client deliverables.
Job Qualifications & Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or audit-related work.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred; audit experience is an advantage.
- Strong proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks, Iris Elements, BrightPay, Dext, MS Excel, and other accounting software add-ons.
- Knowledge of UK accounting standards, statutory accounts preparation, and tax regulations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage financial records accurately.
- Exceptional organizational skills to maintain client records and workflow spreadsheets efficiently.
- Willingness to work mid-shift or align hours with UK business hours.
- Proactive, solution-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement.
