About This Role. . .
The role of Senior Accountant is for an experienced business services professional who works mostly autonomously to support the team with accounting processes and compliance. This role gathers information and data needed to prepare and submit financial statements and tax returns for businesses and clients, as well as a working understanding and application of tax compliance. It is anticipated that someone in the role of Senior Accountant would have exceptional atention to detail, strong analytical and rapport building skills.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Processing up to Trial Balance stage and preparing financial statements for lodgement with the Australian Taxation Office.
- Preparation of Business Activity Statements and Installment Activity Statements for lodgement with the Australian Taxation Office
- Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts; preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries.
- Prepare private tax returns, trust, partnership tax returns and End of year compliance jobs
- Complete required tax reporting in a timely manner
- Prepare and update tax provision schedules
- Research and correct process errors that caused incorrect tax filings and negotiate with tax authorities over tax payment issues
- Other related tasks assigned
About You
Technical Competencies:
- Completed CA/CPA qualification (or equivalent)
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (or similar field)
- 3+ years broad Australian business services experience in the industry
- Achieving all competencies of Accountant Leve
- Knowledge and expertise in accounting principles, bookkeeping, financial statement analysis, reconciliation of accounts, emerging accounting issues, and laws related to federal, state, corporations, and business entity structures.
- Proficiency in account software systems, preparing financial statements, tax returns, BAS's & FBT, payroll tax and land tax, payroll processing, and Excel proficiency.
- Forecasting, planning, budgeting, and control, management accounting for decision making, non-financial performance evaluation, assessing the impact of non-financial data, management accounting and performance evaluation, and cash flow forecasting.
- Understanding and application of GST & capital gain tax.
- Understanding and application of assessable income & allowable deductions for individual, trading entities & businesses, passive investment entities.
- Understanding & application of FBT, indirect taxes, division 7A, structuring and taxation of entities.
- Understanding & application of complex income, deduction & exemptions.
- Analysing and interpreting tax laws, providing structuring and succession/estate planning advice, offering written advice, reviewing and interpreting trust deeds and laws, staying updated on tax focus areas, and conducting effective tax planning for complex groups.
