As we expand internationally, we're looking for a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to strengthen our finance operations and ensure accurate, compliant, and timely reporting across multiple entities.
Role Overview
The Senior Accountant will support Setsail's Finance Manager and international accounting team in managing the company's multi-entity financial operations. You'll oversee day-to-day accounting activities, manage month-end and quarter-end reporting, ensure compliance with tax and audit requirements across multiple jurisdictions, and help maintain financial visibility across global subsidiaries.
This is a hands-on role suited for a proactive, analytical professional who can manage complexity in a fast-moving, creative business environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Review, adjust, and analyze full monthly and quarterly financial statements for designated subsidiaries.
- Prepare and reconcile journal entries and balance sheet accounts across multiple entities.
- Perform in-depth variance analysis and provide commentary to management on financial results.
- Support the preparation of annual budgets, cost analysis, and financial forecasts.
- Deliver ad-hoc financial reports, including commission calculations, labor utilization, and expenditure analyses.
- Present monthly financial results to operational and sales leaders with actionable insights.
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of VAT, Sales Tax, and Withholding Tax across jurisdictions.
- Coordinate with local accountants in Canada, Dubai, and other regions to ensure compliance with audit and tax filings.
- Maintain strong financial controls and ensure adherence to internal accounting policies and standards.
- Assist with local statutory financial statements and support external audit processes.
- Monitor revenue recognition for client retainers and service contracts in alignment with accounting standards.
Operational & Cross-Functional Support
- Collaborate with sales and operations teams to ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately.
- Review expense coding and provide guidance to the Accounts Payable team.
- Act as the operational point of contact for Cost of Revenue and Operating Expense inquiries.
- Ensure consistency, timeliness, and accuracy across reporting systems and regions.
Ideal Profile
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of accounting experience in a multi-currency, multi-entity consolidated environment.
- Proven understanding of service-based or project-based accounting (agency, consultancy, or SaaS preferred).
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data modeling).
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and deadline management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and handle high-volume workloads.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across finance and non-finance teams.
- Experience working in digital marketing, SaaS, or creative agency environments is a strong asset.
Education & Certification
- Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, or equivalent) preferred.
