Job Description

The Accountant will handle full local accounting functions, end-to-end payroll and statutory compliance in a fast-paced start-up environment. This role suits an experienced Accountant who can not only maintain accurate financial records but also build accounting processes, implement systems, and ensure strict adherence to government regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the setup and optimization of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for finance and disbursements.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate general ledger records, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end reports.
  • Compile and analyze financial data to create timely budget-vs-actual reports and cash flow forecasts for management.
  • Manage full-cycle BIR filings (Income Tax, VAT, Withholding Taxes, Alphalist, etc.) and ensure all statutory requirements are met accurately and on time.
  • Handle the renewal of Local Government (LGU) Business Permits and ensure timely submission of SEC General Information Sheets (GIS).
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including computation of overtime, withholdings, and final pay, ensuring accuracy before disbursement.
  • Ensure monthly remittance and compliance submissions for SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG.
  • Act as the main contact for banks, review bank reconciliations, prepare debit notes/official receipts, and process cash advance liquidations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy (CPA is highly preferred)
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably with a background in start-ups or SMEs setting up financial departments.
  • Proficient in Cloud Accounting Software (Xero, QuickBooks Online) and tax filing platforms (eBIRForms, EFPS).
  • Strong knowledge of local tax laws, LGU permit renewals, SEC compliance, and the Philippine Labor Code.
  • Experience in handling end-to-end payroll and government statutory benefits.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to work independently to build processes from the ground up.
  • Experience with Australian tax or accounting processes is a plus, but not essential.
  • Willing to work on a hybrid set-up in BGC
