Job Role : Senior Accountant AU Tax & Financial Reporting

Compensation range : $1,850 - $2,250 AUD/month

Engagement type : Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule : This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you'll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

They combine deep industry expertise, data-driven insights and tailored services to support business transformation, risk and regulatory guidance, and digital and technology initiatives across multiple sectors.

Role Overview: As a Senior Accountant, you will take ownership of the accurate, reliable, and timely processing of financial transactions within the business, while producing routine reports as well as preparing ad hoc financial reports and analysis. The ability to suggest and implement improvements within the finance function will be an important additional responsibility. This hands-on role will report directly to the Head of Finance and will play an integral part in supporting the company's continued growth aspirations.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable, Receivable, and Cash Flow Management

  • Process accounts payable and receivable efficiently, monitor outstanding invoices, and follow up on collections to ensure timely payments and maintain healthy cash flow.

Monthly Close and Reconciliation Support

  • Support the monthly close process and reconcile bank and financial accounts accurately, resolving discrepancies and preparing reports on time to ensure reliable financial data.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare regular and ad hoc financial reports, summaries, and variance analyses, providing management with actionable insights to guide decision-making and maintain accurate financial tracking.

Compliance and Internal Controls

  • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and procedures. Maintain organized financial records to minimize risk and enhance operational efficiency.

Budgeting and External Collaboration

  • Assist in preparing accurate budgets and forecasts. Collaborate with external accountants for reporting, audits, and tax compliance to ensure financial accuracy.

Data Confidentiality and Security

  • Comply with company policies regarding personal data handling, confidentiality, and information security.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role
  • Bachelor's in Accounting (or equivalent) and CPA Philippines highly regarded.
  • Deep understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Have worked for an Australian business meaning understanding of tax principles and Australian GST.
  • Systems skills including Xero, extensive Excel skills (including pivot tables, vlookup and modelling capabilities) and expense systems.
  • Numerically and analytically strong.
  • Adaptability to new systems.
  • Excellent English and a clear verbal and written communicator.
  • Attention to detail and highly organised.
  • Integrity and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
  • People management (needed for future)
