Essential Functions
Accounting Responsibilities
- Develop annual budgets and cash flow forecasts.
- Perform analysis of financial data to identify trends and provide insights to clients.
- Schedule MS Teams video calls with clients to discuss financial reports.
- Present financial statements, KPI reports, and variance analyses during monthly and quarterly client meetings.
- Maintain ongoing and positive communication with assigned clients and CPAs.
- Spearhead accounting catch-up/clean-up projects for newly assigned clients.
- Interpret IRS updates and create customized process flows or guides for the team.
- Proactively develop process guides for tasks where the team needs additional guidance or when new tasks are introduced.
Delegation & Review Responsibilities
- Manage and delegate daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual engagements.
- Perform accurate monthly bookkeeping reviews for complex clients.
- Ensure the accounting team updates client checklists in Karbon for all tasks.
- Manage and review QuickBooks file clean-ups for newly onboarded clients.
- Train team members on new client assignments, when applicable.
- Delegate bookkeeping and accounting tasks to the accounting team as new clients are onboarded.
- Serve as the first escalation point to help the accounting team resolve complex issues and ad hoc requests.
- Train the Accounting Assistant on how to efficiently review their own work.
- Provide guidance to resolve variances in monthly, quarterly, and annual adjustments and reconciliations.
- Review payroll transmissions processed by the accounting team.
- Review and provide guidance on variances in quarterly payroll tax returns and reconciliations.
- Review and provide guidance on complex monthly and quarterly sales taxes.
- Interpret IRS updates and clearly outline important compliance requirements for the accounting team.
- Review bills entered in Bill.com by the accounting team or AP Specialist as needed.
- Review invoices created in QuickBooks Online or Bill.com by the accounting team as needed.
Administrative & Miscellaneous Responsibilities
- Refer to the company's core values when solving problems.
- Enter time daily in Karbon.
- Manage calendars to schedule daily and weekly workload.
- Schedule weekly meetings with accounting staff as needed.
- Participate in 1:1 check-ins to discuss individual goals, concerns, and development.
- Attend daily huddles.
- Attend scheduled trainings and workshops.
- Advocate for adopting changes and updates in ERP systems, tools, and applications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA is a plus.
- 4 years of full-cycle accounting experience.
- At least 2 years of experience working with U.S. clients.
- Experience in leading people is preferred.
- Must have experience managing 30+ clients.
- Expert in QuickBooks Online.
- Strong computer aptitude, including proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data.
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Strong aptitude in data management, analytics, and report preparation.
- Ability to work well under minimal supervision.
