Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Client Service – Operations Team. This role will take ownership of key accounting activities across assigned subsidiaries, including month-end close, management reporting, budgeting and forecasting, compliance, and financial integration.
What will you do
- Own the end-to-end month-end close for assigned subsidiaries, including journal oversight, trial balance reviews, reconciliations, and management reporting with insightful variance commentary.
- Assist with the preparation of accounts and budgets for Head Office and portfolio companies.
- Lead the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes for assigned subsidiaries, including facilitating management workshops and challenging assumptions when appropriate.
- Prepare month-end journals and manage payment processes as required.
- Prepare month-end reconciliations covering fixed assets, deferred revenue, leases, employee liabilities, and other relevant accounts.
- Collate and consolidate accounts, budgets, and other financial information.
- Prepare Head Office reporting packs and templates required by executive management and shareholders.
- Act as a key Finance point of contact for subsidiary stakeholders, providing financial guidance on performance, risks, and opportunities and coordinating with Head Office when needed.
- Prepare monthly BAS, GST, and FBT returns.
- Assist with the preparation of full-year statutory financial statements for audit.
- Support the preparation of tax reporting schedules for tax filing.
- Help ensure accurate and timely delivery of financial reporting and compliance requirements.
- Support the rollout of Head Office finance initiatives, including the standardization of reporting templates and implementation of new accounting standards.
- Support system implementations and post-acquisition financial integration of new portfolio companies, including chart of accounts mapping, opening balances, and first-month close.
- Identify and support process improvements, automation opportunities, and system enhancements across assigned subsidiaries.
- Collaborate closely with other members of the Finance team and provide support on ad hoc requirements.
- Build strong working relationships and respond effectively to portfolio company and Head Office stakeholder queries.
What should you have
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Accounting, or a related field, preferably with an Accounting major.
- CPA or CA professional accreditation is required.
- At least 5 years of accounting, bookkeeping, and/or audit experience.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS/AASB and their practical application, particularly in:
- Business Combinations Leases Revenue from Contracts with Customers
- Proven ability to work autonomously and manage multiple subsidiary portfolios simultaneously.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience using Xero, MYOB Advanced, and NetSuite is preferred.
- Previous experience working with SaaS companies is desirable but not essential.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Confident team player who can also work effectively and independently.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
