What Makes This Role Exciting
The SecOps Engineer is a key member of the Security Operations team, responsible for safeguarding CloudPay's information systems and data from cyber threats. This role involves a combination of proactive monitoring, threat detection and response, vulnerability assessment, and collaboration with other teams to ensure the overall security posture of CloudPay.
The SecOps Engineer will support the Senior Secops Engineer by using a variety of tools and techniques to identify, analyse, and mitigate security risks, as well as help the business make informed decisions about risk tolerance and remediation.
Main Responsibilities
Security Monitoring and Incident Response:
- Monitor security systems for threats, investigate incidents (unauthorised access, malware, breaches), conduct forensic analysis, and determine root causes.
- Triage incidents, collaborate on containment and remediation, and maintain documentation.
- Develop detection rules in SIEM and other tools, participate in response exercises, and contribute to post-incident reviews.
Vulnerability Assessment and Management:
- Conduct regular vulnerability scans using SecOps tools, analyse results, and prioritise remediation.
- Collaborate with system owners and developers to address vulnerabilities, track resolution progress, and validate fixes.
- Maintain dashboards, provide reporting on trends, and assist with penetration testing.
Security Tooling and Automation:
- Maintain security tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection), develop automation scripts to streamline processes, and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Evaluate new technologies, create documentation for configurations and procedures, and integrate tools with existing infrastructure.
Threat Intelligence and Research:
- Stay informed about cybersecurity threats and conduct proactive threat hunting using frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK.
- Analyse and share threat intelligence, monitor feeds for indicators of compromise, correlate data with security monitoring, and maintain the organisation's threat intelligence repository.
Experience Needed For This Role
- Extensive experience in an IT or security-related role.
- Proven experience in a security operations, IT Service or technical related role.
- Hands-on experience with security tools and technologies (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, cloud posture management, XDR endpoint technologies).
- Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and securing cloud infrastructure across major platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Familiarity with various operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS) and networking concepts.
- Knowledge of security frameworks and standards (e.g. ISO27001, SOC2, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, CIS Controls).
