About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Sales Operations Manager to serve as the right hand to the VP of Sales at a growing US-based B2B company. You'll own the business process and management system around Salesforce—diagnosing what's actually happening in the commercial engine, designing the standard work to fix it, and driving that work through to adoption.
This is a proven-operator role, not an entry-level coordinator seat. The company runs Salesforce daily but is early in its maturity curve: reporting is manual, the funnel progresses rather than being actively driven, and Salesforce is under-leveraged. The position is new, so you'll be building the connective tissue while performing the work, with direct sponsorship from sales leadership.
What You'll Do
Commercial Process & Funnel Management
- Own and improve lead, opportunity, account, and funnel-management processes, with clear definitions, standard work, ownership, and handoffs across commercial teams
- Drive funnel hygiene, stage discipline, Next Step and date quality, close-date accuracy, aging management, and opportunity classification
- Identify breakdowns in execution and work with sales leadership to translate them into practical corrective actions
Reporting & Salesforce Ownership
- Build and maintain dashboards, scorecards, list views, and recurring reporting that leaders and sellers actually use, replacing manual assembly of reports and spreadsheets
- Establish a single trusted source for recurring commercial numbers, and prepare weekly and monthly funnel, forecast, activity, and performance reviews
- Serve as the primary business owner for commercial Salesforce requirements and data governance, translating business needs into prioritized requirements for the Salesforce Administrator
- Drive user adoption so Salesforce becomes the way the commercial team works, not an after-the-fact reporting obligation
Analytics & Commercial Insight
- Analyze conversion, aging, velocity, win/loss, lead source, territory, and seller performance to identify what's limiting growth
- Turn data into concise management insights and recommendations—not just extracts—and be candid about what the data can and cannot support
- Reconcile data across Salesforce, ERP, and other sources
Execution & Coordination
- Own follow-through on commercial-process actions and keep decisions, requirements, and standards current
- Coordinate across Sales, Marketing, Finance, and other commercial functions, delegating repeatable administrative work to available support resources
- Support training, documentation, and new-process launches so changes stick rather than fade after announcement
What We're Looking For
Non-Negotiables
- Approximately 7+ years in Sales Operations, Revenue Operations, Commercial Operations, CRM Operations, or a closely related role (flexibility for an exceptional candidate with somewhat less tenure)
- Hands-on Salesforce experience: reporting, dashboards, data management, opportunity and lead processes, and user adoption
- Advanced Excel and spreadsheet capability with strong data-analysis skills, and comfort reconciling imperfect data across CRM, ERP, and other sources
- Ability to turn data into a short, management-ready story: what's happening, why it matters, and what should be done
- Strong written and verbal English, with the confidence to work directly with senior North American sales leaders
- A doer's mindset with complete ownership—you form a view, surface problems early, navigate the organization yourself, and drive work to ground without routing every question upward
- Comfortable building standard work, definitions, and management routines from zero
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting B2B sales teams in industrial, technical, distribution, channel, or project-based environments
- Experience with sales forecasting, funnel reviews, territory and account reporting, KPI management, and executive sales reporting
- Enough Salesforce knowledge to write clear business requirements and partner effectively with an administrator or developer
- Demonstrated personal ownership of process improvement (Kaizen, lean, or similar)
- MBA or Six Sigma credentials are welcome but not required—demonstrated capability and pattern recognition matter more
- Comfort using AI tools as part of daily work to compress analysis, drafting, and documentation time (ongoing AI training is provided)
