Role: Sales Operations Lead (Head of Sales Support)

About the Role
The Head of Sales of an AI company in San Francisco is looking for a Sales Operations Lead who can own the systems, workflows, and operational backbone that lets the sales team move fast and close deals.
The ideal person is a sharp critical thinker who can build and optimize sales infrastructure, not just run playbooks. Prior GM-level or operational leadership experience is a strong plus.
What You'll Do
- Own and manage the sales tech stack: ATTIO CRM, Clay, Circleback, and Ergo automation
- Design, build, and maintain sales automations and workflows in Make.com
- Structure and optimize the CRM to support pipeline visibility, forecasting, and rep productivity
- Use Clay for enrichment and prospecting workflows that actually convert
- Manage call recording and meeting intelligence via Circleback to surface insights and keep the team accountable
- Build reporting and dashboards that the Head of Sales can act on immediately
- Identify bottlenecks in the sales process and fix them — proactively, not when asked
- Coordinate cross-functionally (marketing, CS, product) to ensure revenue alignment
- Serve as an operational thought partner to the Head of Sales on strategy, hiring, comp, and territory planning
What We're Looking For
- Critical thinker first, sales person second. You understand sales deeply, but your superpower is problem-solving and systems thinking
- Hands-on experience with Make.com — you've built real automations, not just watched tutorials
- Strong working knowledge of ATTIO, Clay, Circleback, and Ergo (or similar tools in each category)
- Background in sales operations, revenue operations, or a GM / Chief of Staff role where you owned operational outcomes
- Comfortable working with a direct, no-BS leader — you don't need hand-holding and you speak up when something's off
- Experience building and maintaining CRM systems and sales processes from scratch or near-scratch
- Strong data instincts — you know what to measure, how to measure it, and what to do with the numbers
Nice to Have
- Previous experience as a General Manager or Chief of Staff in a startup or scaling company
- Familiarity with outbound sales motions and SDR/AE workflows
- Experience with comp plan design or territory mapping
