About The Role

The Risk Officer assists the Market and Liquidity Risk Management Head in implementing the market risk management function of the Group (Bank and Subsidiaries), with focus on policy formulation, system enhancements, portfolio analytics, and forward-looking initiatives of scenario stress testing and risk optimization.

How you'll contribute

  • Identifies, measures, assesses, and measures portfolio and emerging market risks in the SBC Group using risk measurement, modelling techniques and qualitative risk analysis. This includes regular review of risk appetite/ limits set considering historical utilizations, current Group's strategy, market conditions, existing capital position, etc.
  • Evaluates, formulates, recommends, and ensures updating of policies, risk limits, and risk mitigations under business as usual and stressed scenarios, including Early Warning Indicators which are regulatory-compliant and done in consultation with affected business units of the Bank. Also, monitors and utilizes industry news, trends, market development, and regulatory changes to identify risk issues and direction and perform impact assessments.
  • Escalates limit breaches and non-adherences to controls set including analyses of causes, to supervising officers and senior management to observe and enforce the established protocol in handling limit exceptions.
  • Participates in the implementation and enhancement of risk management systems, if any.
  • Supports the Market and Liquidity Risk Management Head in audit engagements, and in the completion of annual ICAAP/ILAAP document, financial disclosures, and other mandatory submissions.
  • In the absence of the Market and Liquidity Risk Management Head, reports risk exposures to Senior Management -level (ALCO) and Board-level (ROC) Committees using a summarized Risk Dashboard to let management and shareholders appreciate the key risk areas or concerns.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science/Information Technology, Mathematics/Statistics, Business Studies/Administration/Management, Commerce, Economics, Finance/Accountancy/Banking, or a related field.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant work experience, preferably with specialization in Banking and Finance, Corporate Finance/Investment, Actuarial/Statistics, or Risk Management within Accounting/Audit/Tax Services, Banking, or Investment Houses.
  • Mastery of plain-vanilla products as well as higher-order derivatives; deep appreciation of various market and liquidity risk measures, including their assumptions, strengths, and weaknesses; and understanding of basic statistical concepts such as standard deviation, normal probability distribution, and confidence levels.
  • Strong leadership, multitasking, and presentation skills, with the ability to think on one's feet and maintain composure under pressure.
