The Research assistant provides scientific and technical support to staff and senior colleagues, handling straightforward tasks within well-established routines and procedures under regular direct supervision.
Responsibilities
- Supports supervisors in routine activities in operations, breeding, breeding support, or research.
- Maintains accurate records through data entry, filing, cataloguing, logging, and management of basic databases.
- Performs basic interpretation of data or test results and presents findings accurately.
- Assists in supervising, training, and evaluating skilled labor and junior technical staff when required.
- Develops technical competencies through on-the-job learning and exposure from senior or more experienced colleagues to a range of activities.
- Progressively assumes increased responsibilities as skills, and experience grow.
- Complies with safety and health procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Prepares and submits reports to direct supervisor for review and discussion, as required.
Qualification
- Master's Degree in Plant Breeding and other related courses
- Relevant technical knowledge or technical skills in crop breeding or related fields.
- Proficient in Computer application, Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc)
- Knowledge in statistical analysis and interpretation
- Technical writing and result presentation skills
- Driving skills are an advantage
- Open to fresh graduate or candidates with1-2 years of relevant experience in plant breeding or related work.
