Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE:

  • The Front Desk Coordinator is a non-exempt position responsible for the administrative duties and front desk workflow to support the management, Nephrologists, Surgeons and Advanced Practitioners. Duties may include but are not limited to administrative patient check-in and check-out, collection of patient information and copays, patient phone calls, keeping the EMR patient schedule up to date, and efficient functioning of the front and back office of a medical practice.

  • High School Diploma / Bachelor's Degree

EXPERIENCE:

  • 0-2 years experience

SPECIALIZED REQUIREMENTS:

  • A background check (which may include: checks of employment records, education records, criminal records, civil records, motor vehicle records, professional licenses, and sex offender registries, as position requires) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with GKHC. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current GKHC employees who apply for the position.
  • Complies with OSHA, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements, as well as applicable practice and broader GKHC policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to be on video and communicate with patients remotely.
  • Possess excellent customer service skills. Interact in a friendly, professional manner with a wide range of patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure. Must be able to function effectively in an environment where it is necessary to perform several tasks simultaneously and where interruptions are frequent.
  • Comfort in EMRs and practice systems such as pMD, CKD EHR by Epic, and Cerner is preferred, but not required.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office suite skills (including but not limited to Word, Excel or similar program) required.
  • Fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to successfully perform the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following

  • Assists provider(s) with patient care during CKD office visits including warm patients/visitors greetings at check-in, obtaining paperwork and documenting patient demographics and insurance information, collects and documents co-pays and outstanding balances, and scheduling follow-up appointments at check-out. May assist multiple providers over the course of the week.

  • Daily administrative duties include reviewing/preparing/processing faxes, billing and claims documentation requests, and medical records requests.

40%

  • Answering incoming patient phone calls, triaging medical questions, pulling automated reminder confirmations for following week appointments, completing applicable patient reminder calls.

  • Will escalate patient needs and assist local leadership with other administrative duties as assigned
