Job Description

Position Summary

The Driver Recruiter is responsible for sourcing, screening, and hiring qualified CDL drivers to support company growth and operational capacity. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a strong driver workforce by developing recruiting strategies, managing the hiring pipeline, and ensuring compliance with DOT and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute driver recruitment strategies to attract qualified CDL drivers
  • Source candidates through job boards, social media, referrals, industry networks, and recruiting platforms
  • Conduct phone screenings and interviews to evaluate qualifications, experience, and cultural fit
  • Review applications to ensure compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations
  • Coordinate background checks, MVR checks, drug testing, and onboarding documentation
  • Maintain accurate records in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
  • Communicate job offers, compensation details, and benefit information to candidates
  • Track recruiting metrics such as cost-per-hire, time-to-fill, and retention rates
  • Partner with safety and operations teams to ensure hiring standards are met
  • Attend job fairs, driver events, and industry networking opportunities as needed

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3 years of recruiting experience, preferably in transportation or logistics
  • Knowledge of CDL classifications and DOT compliance requirements
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain relationships with drivers
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume recruiting environment

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience recruiting CDL Class A and B drivers
  • Familiarity with FMCSA regulations
  • Experience using ATS and CRM systems
  • Understanding of driver pay structures (CPM, percentage, hourly)
  • Sales or commission-based recruiting experience
