Job Description

Job Description:

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be the backbone of our project finances, responsible for accurately measuring and costing all aspects of a construction project. You will play a crucial role from the initial design phase through to completion, ensuring all documentation and estimates are precise and aligned with industry standards.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Quantity Takeoffs (QTO): Accurately measure and quantify materials, labor, and costs from 2D architectural/structural drawings (e.g., floor plans, reinforced concrete, structural steelwork, utilities, and M&E).
  • Utilize both manual methods (scale rulers, area calculations) and digital tools (Bluebeam, AutoCAD, CostX, Planswift, Revit, etc.).
  • Bill of Quantities (BOQ) Preparation:Organize takeoff data into a structured BOQ following industry standards (e.g., NRM, SMM7, CESMM).
  • Classify items (e.g., Earthworks, Structural, Finishes, Services) with precise descriptions, units, quantities, and rates.
  • Cost Estimation Support:Provide quantified data to support the preparation of both preliminary and detailed cost estimates.
  • Documentation & Reporting:Prepare comprehensive reports for tenders, contracts, and procurement processes.
  • Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to clarify discrepancies and ensure project clarity.

What we're looking for:
  • A college graduate with a degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management is required.
  • At least 3+ years of experience in construction takeoffs, BOQ preparation, or estimating.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert ability to read construction drawings and use industry-standard software for takeoffs and estimations.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous precision in measurements and the ability to identify missing or incomplete details in drawings to prevent costly errors.
  • Analytical & Numerical Skills: The capacity to break down complex designs into measurable items and understand their financial implications.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent ability to communicate clearly with project managers, engineers, and clients to align on project scopes and costs.
  • BOQ & Documentation Expertise: Proven skill in preparing detailed Bills of Quantities and comprehensive reports for various project phases.
  • Certifications (optional): RICS, CIOB, or AACE certification (e.g., Certified Cost Professional) is a plus.
