Job Description

I. JOB SUMMARY

Performs and conducts tests and analysis to determine the physical and chemical characteristics of cement and raw materials in relation to the company and government standards.

Participate in the development of new products, improvement of existing products and in research activities to support customer satisfaction and cost reduction initiatives of the company.

II. Key Responsibilities

CHEMICAL ANALYSIS

Prepare and conduct test analysis of clinkers, cement, hot meals, coal dust, CTC samples and other submitted samples (packhouse, logistics, process and product development) to ensure quality of products are within standard specifications.

PHYSICAL ANALYSIS

Prepare and conduct test analysis of coal dust, cement, hot meal, coal dust, CTC samples, inline raw materials and submitted samples (packhouse, logistics, process) to ensure quality of products are within standard specifications.

EQUIPMENT INSPECTION

Conduct regular checks on laboratory equipment and apparatus (balances, burette, Blaine apparatus, sieve) prior to use to ensure reliability and accuracy of test results. In-charge of Sieve and Chemical Inventory.

CALIBRATION

Calibrate Blaine Apparatus, and conduct periodic checks

Calibrate Sieve Mesh and conduct periodic checks

Calibrate glass wares regularly in order to ensure reliability and accuracy of test results

Advise QA Shift Superintendent in case of any deviations on calibration of equipment, and offer solutions/recommendations

DOCUMENTATION

Encode all test results into SICA, PIMS and encode and print raw data sheet to ensure accurate and timely availability of information to other departments.

III. Skills & Competencies:

Basic technical skills in laboratory works, computer literate

Basic understanding of the cement manufacturing process

Good understanding of corporate and government policies, labor and benefit regulations and business results

IV. Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or chemistry
  • Must be a licensed Chemical Engineer, Chemist or equivalent
  • One (1) year of experience in QA Laboratory setting in the Manufacturing industry preferred
  • With basic understanding of the cement manufacturing process and should be knowledgeable on the basic technical skills in laboratory works
  • Should have a good understanding of corporate and government policies, labor and benefit regulations and business results
  • Must have strong analytical skills and written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience using MS Office tools (especially MS Word & Excel) needed
