Independently plans, leads, and executes internal audit engagements focused on business processes, financial controls, governance, and compliance. Evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, ensures regulatory compliance, and promotes operational efficiency.
Serves as engagement lead for assigned audit areas, translating approved audit plans into executable audit programs, supervising Audit Specialists, and consolidating audit results for reporting.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Assurance – Planning, Fieldwork, and Reporting
- Contributes to the annual internal audit plan and business process audit scheduling.
- Develops detailed audit work programs with defined objectives, scope, procedures, and timelines.
- Facilitates opening meetings and preliminary discussions with auditees.
- Performs business process walkthroughs, interviews, and risk assessments to identify key risks and controls.
- Identifies control gaps, root causes, and emerging risk trends through data analysis and audit techniques.
- Prepares Audit Work Programs (AWP) for approval by the Department Head.
- Executes audit engagements in accordance with approved AWP and internal audit standards.
- Reviews supporting documentation, performs control testing, and evaluates compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Identifies audit issues and recommends practical and risk-based corrective actions.
- Ensures proper organization and completeness of audit working papers in compliance with documentation standards.
- Drafts clear and concise audit findings, observation sheets, and audit briefs.
- Prepares presentation materials for reporting audit results to management and stakeholders.
- Participates in exit/closing meetings to discuss audit results and agree on management action plans and timelines.
- Monitors management responses and validates implementation of corrective actions.
- Prepares periodic (quarterly) audit progress reports for the Audit Committee.
- Advisory / Consulting – Process Improvement
- Participates in advisory engagements, special reviews, and management-requested process assessments.
- Provides data-driven insights and risk-based recommendations to improve operational efficiency, governance, and internal controls.
- Governance & Quality Assurance
- Monitors implementation status of audit recommendations and management action plans.
- Validates the adequacy and effectiveness of corrective actions taken by management.
- Maintains and updates the audit issue tracking system and submits regular status reports.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Accountancy or related business course
- Preferably a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- At least 4 years of experience in internal audit, external audit, accounting, or business process analysis
- At least 2 years in a supervisory, team lead, or project management role
- Strong understanding of business process auditing, risk management, and internal controls
- Knowledge of banking regulations (BSP) and internal audit standards
- Data analysis and critical thinking skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Willing to work in Makati City
