The QA Manager owns quality across all cliet's products web (React/TypeScript), mobile (React Native iOS & Android), and backend APIs (NestJS/Python). This role leads the entire Manila QA team, defines test strategy, establishes quality gates across all environments (Dev Staging UAT Production), and drives test automation adoption. The QA Manager is the final sign-off authority for production releases and reports quality metrics directly to leadership. This individual must deeply understand the full technology stack to design effective test strategies and communicate technically with the India and US development teams.
Test Strategy & Quality Governance
- Define and maintain comprehensive test strategy spanning web, mobile, and API workstreams.
- Establish quality gates for each environment (Dev Staging UAT Production) with clear pass/fail criteria.
- Own the release sign-off process no production deployment without QA Manager approval.
- Define and track quality metrics: defect density, test coverage, defect escape rate, regression pass rate.
- Conduct risk-based test planning prioritize testing effort based on feature criticality and blast radius.
- Establish bug severity and priority classification standards; manage defect triage process.
- Ensure testing covers the full stack: React/TypeScript frontend, React Native mobile, NestJS APIs, Python services, AWS/Azure infrastructure.
Team Management & Leadership
- Manage and mentor the Manila QA team (Senior QA Engineer, QA Engineers, Junior QA, UI/UX Designer).
- Lead daily standup for the Manila team
- Conduct performance reviews, set individual goals, and create career development plans.
- Manage QA capacity planning align QA resources with sprint scope and release schedule.
- Coordinate with Engineering Manager (India) and Director (US) on cross-team quality initiatives.
- Dotted-line oversight of UI/UX Designer for design review alignment with development priorities.
Test Automation Strategy
- Own the test automation roadmap target >70% automation coverage on critical paths.
- Guide the Senior QA Engineer / Automation Lead on framework selection and implementation.
- Ensure automated tests are integrated into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline).
- Establish automation standards for API testing (Postman/Newman), UI testing (Playwright/Selenium), and mobile testing (Appium/Detox).
- Review and approve automation architecture decisions.
Qualifications:
- 58 years of QA experience with at least 2 years in a management/lead role.
- Test strategy ownership designed and implemented test strategies for web, mobile, and API products.
- Test automation background hands-on experience with Playwright/Selenium, Appium, Postman/Newman.
- ADO proficiency test plans, test suites, work item management, dashboards, pipeline integration.
- Full-stack application understanding can read and understand React/TypeScript, NestJS, and Python code to design effective tests.
- Mobile testing experience iOS and Android testing, device management, app store submission validation.
- API testing expertise REST and GraphQL API validation, contract testing, load testing.
- AWS/Cloud awareness understands deployment environments, CloudFront, Lambda, RDS at a testing level.
- CI/CD integration knowledge understands how automated tests fit into build and deployment pipelines.
- People management skills performance reviews, mentorship, capacity planning, team development.
- Excellent English communication (written and verbal) daily interaction with US and India teams.
