If you have a solid foundation in GAAP accounting and thrive in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment — this role is built for you. As a Property Accountant, you'll take ownership of the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of residential properties, ensuring financial data is accurate, timely, and meaningful for owners and business leaders alike.

This isn't a transactional data-entry role. You'll be expected to think critically about variances, monitor cash flow, maintain fixed assets, and serve as a reliable financial partner to operations teams. YOU'RE LIKELY A STRONG FIT IF YOU HAVE

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
• 1 to 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in property management or real estate
• Solid working knowledge of GAAP and the ability to apply it consistently in day-to-day accounting tasks
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with experience handling high-volume transactional entries
• Demonstrated ability to prepare and reconcile financial reports, journal entries, and balance sheet activity accurately and on time
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities without compromising output quality

STRONG SIGNALS

• Hands-on experience with property management systems such as Yardi, MRI, PayScan, or One Site
• Background in multifamily residential property accounting
• Experience supporting annual budgeting and preparing lender/owner financial packages

RESPONSIBILITY PILLARS

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

You own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting cycle — keeping lenders, owners, and leadership informed with accurate, timely data.

• Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to lenders and property owners
• Prepare and monitor monthly accruals, adjusting as conditions change
• Review budget-to-actual variances and record correcting journal entries for discrepancies

Balance Sheet, Fixed Assets & Bank Reconciliation

You ensure the integrity of balance sheet data and asset records, keeping the numbers clean and audit-ready at all times.

• Record and reconcile balance sheet activity on an ongoing basis
• Maintain the fixed asset system, including posting monthly depreciation and amortization journal entries
• Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash balances to ensure funds meet operational needs

Invoice Review, Tax Compliance & Stakeholder Support

You support smooth operations by keeping payments, taxes, and internal requests on track — and by being a dependable point of contact for financial queries.

• Review and approve assigned property invoices
• Ensure lender payments, property taxes, and other tax obligations are recorded accurately and processed on time
• Respond to requests from owners, operations team members, and business leaders related to financial reports, statements, and other accounting matters
• Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and productivity
