A Banking Project Manager oversees the planning, execution, and delivery of financial technology, regulatory compliance, and business transformation initiatives within a bank or financial institution.

Job Summary

The Banking Project Manager leads cross-functional teams to deliver complex projects on time, within budget, and in compliance with financial regulations. This role requires a deep understanding of banking operations, financial products, and risk management methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Governance: Define project scope, goals, deliverables, and success metrics in alignment with senior stakeholders.
• Financial Management: Manage project budgets, track expenditures, forecast financial forecasts, and ensure cost-effectiveness.
• Risk & Compliance: Identify, mitigate, and monitor project risks, ensuring strict adherence to global and local banking regulations (e.g., Basel, AML, KYC).
• Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary liaison between business units, IT departments, vendors, and executive leadership.
• Resource Allocation: Manage project timelines, assign tasks to cross-functional teams, and resolve resource conflicts.
• Change Management: Standardise and implement new operational processes, system upgrades, and organizational shifts across branches or departments.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Banking, Finance, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience: 5+ years of project management experience specifically within a retail, corporate, or investment banking environment.
• Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 certification is highly preferred; Agile/Scrum certifications are a strong plus.
• Domain Expertise: Proven track record handling core banking migrations, digital banking upgrades, regulatory reporting compliance, or payment systems.

Essential Skills

• Methodologies: Proficient in Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid project management frameworks.
• Tools: Expert user of project tools like Jira, Confluence, MS Project, and Clarity PPM.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional negotiation, conflict resolution, leadership, and analytical problem-solving abilities.
• Technical Literacy: Ability to bridge the gap between technical IT infrastructure teams and non-technical business stakeholders.
