Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Plans, develops and implements activities in functional production area(s) to meet production goals, quality and cost objectives, to include management of exempt and nonexempt associates involved in production, assembly, equipment maintenance, process and product engineering.
- Establishes and modifies operational methods and processes by recommending changes in materials, equip ment, and procedures; recommends departmental standards and practices.
- Coordinates production activities with other functions such as materials, planning, new product development, quality inspection, Warehouse, Logistics and Facilities.
- Makes budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and manpower requirement.
- Ensure employee competency development through training.
- Develop, configure, and optimize industrial processes from inception through start up and high volume manufacturing.
- Responsible for process readiness by evaluating existing processes and configuring manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability, maximize profitability, and develop best practices within the production process. Identify ways to reduce production costs through recommendations-new process equipment, equipment justification to improve performance.
- Responsible for product readiness by managing manufacturing documentation required for product manufacturing i.e. material and component drawings, BOM, accurate work instructions and workmanship standards and process procedures.
- Focal person on yield improvement activities, process capability, process efficiency, and process stability improvements.
Education & Experience
- B.Sc. Electronics Engineering (Physics, Electrical and related can apply). Post-graduate studies is highly regarded.
- At least 5 years of experience in Semiconductor or Electronics/Optoelectronics and Fiber optics Industry. Proven track record and working knowledge in Electrical/Electronics manufacturing industry. With good programming skills with focus on factory automation skills-assembly and test processes. Familiar with object oriented programming -C/C++, Visual Basic, and preferably some experience with wring queries against an SQL database. Cleanroom experience and knowledge of laser and optical systems, power meters, and source measure units. Experience with SPC and process control methodologies. Strong mechanical aptitude - AutoCAD skills is a plus.
Skills
- General knowledge of semiconductor or optoelectronics manufacturing experience. With hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment and has strong management skills.
- Experience facilitating improvement projects and Kaizen. With knowledge on methods for waste elimination, efficiency improvement, yield improvement and cycle time improvement.
- Require skills sets to breakdown complex operations with a process oriented mindset for analysis and creations of strategic plan.
- Experience assessing manufacturing processes through the use of PFMEA, process capability analysis, root cause analysis, and design and experiments
- Basic manufacturing statistics knowledge – correlation, process optimization, hypothesis testing, coefficient of variance analysis, six sigma, and some statistical process control methodologies.
- Problem solving and trouble shooting skills to ensure that all team members can identify root causes and take fast effective action to resolve the problems in hand. Knowledge on problem solving methodologies such as 8D, RCA, Why-Why analysis, Hypothesis testing and validation, etc. Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Understand line balance, scheduling, cycle times, and inventory control. Can interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- With knowledge on statistical methodologies and tools. Working knowledge of SAS JMP or Minitab is a strong plus.
- With knowledge on production planning and control performance indicators - customer OTD, downtime, inventory turns, stocks variance, cost savings – and how to use these to improve internal business process.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Must have the ability to lead cross – functional teams consisting of operators, technicians, and engineers. Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast – pace development environment.
- Excellent team and interpersonal skills. Strong leadership ability and potential. With people supervision and coaching skills.
