Naval Architectural Engineer
Shift: Night / Graveyard PHT
Type: Full Time, Independent Contractor
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Naval Architectural Engineer responsible for the design, analysis, and optimization of marine vessels and offshore structures. The role involves applying engineering principles to ensure structural integrity, stability, performance, and compliance with international maritime standards. This position operates on a night/graveyard shift to support global operations and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review ship and marine structure designs, including hull forms, general arrangements, and structural layouts
- Perform hydrostatic and hydrodynamic analyses (stability, resistance, propulsion, seakeeping)
- Conduct structural analysis using classification society rules and finite element methods (FEM)
- Prepare and validate engineering calculations, technical drawings, and design documentation
- Ensure compliance with international standards (e.g., IMO, ABS, DNV, Lloyd's Register)
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including marine engineers, designers, and project managers
- Support vessel modification, retrofitting, and repair projects
- Participate in risk assessments, safety reviews, and design evaluations
- Provide technical support during construction, inspection, and commissioning phases
- Coordinate with clients and stakeholders for design approvals and project updates
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or related field
- Proven experience in ship design, offshore structures, or marine engineering projects
- Strong knowledge of hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, and structural analysis
- Familiarity with classification society rules and maritime regulations
- Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, Maxsurf, ANSYS, NAPA, or similar)
- Experience with FEM tools and stability analysis software is highly preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills
- Excellent communication skills for remote and cross-functional collaboration
Work Setup & Expectations
- Night/Graveyard shift (aligned with international clients)
- Independent Contractor setup (self-managed taxes and benefits)
Home Office Requirements:
- Internet Connection: Must be 50 Mbps at the least, preferably a wired connection with PLDT, Cable connection is fine if it's more than 25mbps. We DO NOT accept plug-ins, wi-fi, or wimax.
- Computer/Laptop: The contractor must have a good working computer.
- Headsets: The Contractor must have noise-cancelling headsets preferably Plantronics Blackwire C320M headsets. Assessment will be done during test calls.
- Dedicated Home Office - Contractors are required to have a dedicated home office free from noise and distractions.
- Webcam - for meeting purposes
- Must be comfortable working with Time Doctor/Screenshot Monitor
