Job Description

Job Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing daily food manufacturing operations to ensure production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and in compliance with food safety and quality standards. The role leads production teams, optimizes manufacturing processes, manages resources, and drives continuous improvement to maximize productivity while minimizing waste and downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day production operations to achieve production schedules, output, quality, and cost targets.
  • Develop and implement production plans based on customer demand and inventory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, food safety regulations, sanitation requirements, and company quality standards.
  • Lead, coach, and develop production supervisors and production personnel.
  • Monitor production performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, yield, downtime, waste, and labor efficiency.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance, Warehouse, Maintenance, Procurement, Engineering, and Supply Chain departments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained by working closely with the Maintenance team to minimize production downtime.
  • Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Manage labor planning, shift scheduling, overtime, and manpower utilization.
  • Monitor production costs and implement initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety policies and promote a safe working environment.
  • Prepare production reports and present operational performance to senior management.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in food manufacturing, including at least 3 years in a production management or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of food manufacturing processes and production planning.
  • Thorough understanding of GMP, HACCP, Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS), and quality management standards.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma is an advantage.
