For this role, you will be working on our intellectual property management platform a powerful tool that enables users to manage IP translations, filings, renewals, and recordals all in one place.
The Role
As a Product Owner at LegalSight, you will play a central role in shaping the future of our IP management platform. You will bridge the gap between business stakeholders and our development team, translating complex requirements into clear, actionable solutions. Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements from stakeholders including the Product Lead, clients, in-house staff, and vendor partners.
- Conduct market research to identify trends, competitive offerings, and opportunities to enhance the product.
- Collaborate closely with developers to define and document functional designs that meet business requirements.
- Present proposed solutions to stakeholders for review and approval.
- Identify and track gaps in requirements and design through to resolution.
- Define the content of release notes and review final versions for assigned products.
- Triage production issues to determine whether they stem from a training gap, a missed requirement, or a product enhancement opportunity.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce production issues.
- Provide input into the long-term product enhancement vision.
Qualifications
- Proven experience preparing technical documents to define software requirements.
- Experience communicating effectively with business stakeholders, software developers, and QA specialists.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Conceptual understanding of relational databases and related terminology.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt your style for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the ideal candidate will also bring:
- 3+ years in a similar Product Owner or Business Analyst role, or equivalent experience in the legal or professional services industry.
- Experience with software development methodologies (e.g., Agile/Scrum).
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps (ADO) for backlog management, work item tracking, and sprint planning.
- Expertise in defining workflows and user interface requirements.
- Experience defining requirements for reporting and data export features used by business stakeholders.
- Experience in the legal, IP, or professional services industry.
