- Ensure consistency in backup tooling and infrastructure across global logistics sites.
- Support the application of enterprise backup, storage, and security standards.
Resilience & Recovery Execution
- Execute established disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BC) procedures for ALC systems.
- Perform routine recovery testing to validate readiness and identify gaps.
- Assist in assessing site‑level resiliency and contribute recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure backup health, integrity, and recoverability through regular validation and monitoring.
Collaboration & Cross‑Functional Support
- Work closely with IT Managed Services, InfoSec, and site engineers to support backup and recovery operations.
- Participate in on‑site or remote technical assessments to help validate backup compliance with enterprise standards.
- Support RISE-aligned modernization initiatives by implementing assigned backup and recovery tasks.
- Provide technical input for projects impacting ALC operational continuity.
Operational Compliance & Governance
- Follow enterprise-aligned backup governance, retention schedules, and security requirements.
- Maintain clear documentation of backup configurations, procedures, and audit responses.
- Support compliance activities, including addressing findings related to backup configuration, resilience, or recoverability.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Identify opportunities to automate backup health checks, reporting, and validation tasks.
- Stay current with emerging tools and best practices for backup, recovery, and operational resilience.
- Contribute ideas to improve efficiency, recovery time objectives (RTO), and recovery point objectives (RPO) across ALC environments.
Required Background & Skills
- Strong understanding of backup technologies, storage systems, and recovery processes.
- Experience supporting infrastructure operations in production environments (on‑prem, edge, or hybrid).
- Familiarity with DR/BC concepts, failover procedures, and validation testing.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
- Willingness to travel 10%–25% as needed to support site assessments and deployments.
Preferred Qualifications
- 4–7+ years of IT infrastructure or operations experience.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise backup platforms (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of logistics, warehouse, or distribution center operational systems.
Certifications such as:
- ITIL Foundation
- Vendor‑specific backup/storage certifications
- DR/BC certifications (e.g., CBCP, ISO 22301 training)
- Experience in global enterprise environments with standardized operational practices.
Impact
This role strengthens ALC operational continuity by ensuring reliable backups and validated recovery processes across global sites. Through consistent execution, monitoring, and improvement of backup and resilience practices, the engineer reduces operational risk, supports swift recovery during incidents, and contributes to the resilience goals of the RISE platform and InfoSec SWAT.
