What You'll Do
The power system engineer will work with the Integrated Grid and Supply Management lead in the conduct of network analytics, cyber defense strategies, advanced power systems engineering, among others, leading to a suite of energy solutions to client and government partners. S/he will support all activities that build on the various energy scenarios and transmission development pathways developed under the Smart and Green Grid Plan (SGGP) to help analyze grid capacity and forecasted demand to recommend effective integration of various energy resources as committed under the Philippine Energy Plan. S/he will likewise collaborate with the Energy Resilience and Innovation Lead in the deployment of advanced mobile energy units that contribute to more cost-effective and increased energy resilience.
Essential Duties:
- Assess and provide recommendations on the load flow analysis, transient stability, reactive planning, infrastructure re-enforcement, generator interconnection, and other related studies.
- Prepare cost benefit analysis on the different technologies
- Evaluate electrical systems, products, components, and applications; applies knowledge of electricity and materials.
- Prepare technical drawings, one-line diagrams, cost estimates and specifications of electrical systems to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.
- Interact with consumers, utility personnel, contractors, and project stakeholders to assess the technical feasibility of energy projects
What You'll Need
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of experience, Master's degree and 3 years of experience or PhD and 0 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience with Electrical Engineering License or other related major, including experience in electrical power generating equipment and control systems.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities described above.
- Professional certifications or licenses required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the Philippine Grid Code
- Good understanding on the Philippine electricity market including supply, transmission, distribution interconnection and electricity spot market trading.
- Had hands on experience on power purchase agreement structures, including terms and conditions.
- Familiarity with industrial power systems models and software.
- Familiarity with distributed energy resources, micro grid, energy storage, preferred but not required
Skills And Abilities
- Full professional proficiency in spoken and written English is required.
- Strong analytical and communication skills with an ability to deliver appropriate, relevant, and clear messaging to various audiences (all levels government and stakeholders)
- Demonstrated ability to produce professional quality English-language documents
- Demonstrated ability to create and maintain effective working relations with Philippine government personnel, stakeholders, NGO and private sector partners, and international donor agencies
- Previous experience working with donor projects an advantage.
- Working knowledge in use and application of computer software relevant to coordination, policy research, and project implementation.
- Ability to work independently and within matrix project, program teams and difficult environment.
