Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance/help to immediate superior for the achievement of Health, Environment and Safety Objective.
  • Develops, implements and maintains an effective program and ensure compliance to satisfy the requirements of local legislation e.g. the OHS, COID and Environmental Conservation Acts.
  • Monitors the several technical processes and sustainability in the field of pollution measurement and control (in air, water, soil, sludge, waste) and to adhere to the duties and responsibilities of a Pollution Control Officer as stated in DENR Administrative Order No. 26.
  • Develops systems to ensure all employees comply with all relevant legal safety requirements.
  • Identifies safety training needs, organize and co-ordinate safety training courses and prepare training material where appropriate.
  • Co-ordinates the monthly safety meeting: - ensure meeting times are set

agendas are sent out- minutes are kept and sent out- ensure that all support documentation in respect of the safety program is received on time and in the correct format from all concerned parties

Required Skills

  • critical thinking, decision making, knowledgeable in applicable laws and requirements, water pollution control systems, can work with minimum supervision, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, attentive and can maintained organized area, self disciplined and professional, good team player
  • Preferably Assistant Manager/Manager specialized in Engineering - Environmental/Health/Safety or equivalent.
  • Handles the requirements of the establishments or enterprises prior to the construction or installation of pollution control facilities;
  • Monitors activities relating to the pollution source and control facilities to ensure their compliance with the air, noise and water quality standards;
  • Administers operation and preservation of pollution control facilities;
  • Reports the breakdown of any pollution control facility, and the estimated and actual date of completion/repair and operation;
  • Cooperates with the Local Government Units or local pollution control officers;
  • Attends meetings for Pollution Control Officers which may from time to time be called by the DENR;
  • Handles other concerns in relation to environmental issues as required by his/her company.

Requirements

>Preferably, a minimum of 3 years of experience in the particular field

>Graduate of Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Sanitary Engineer, Engineering (Environmental/Health/Safety) or equivalent. or any registered engineer

>Certified S02 or SO3

>At least 2-3 years of working experience in the related field is required for this position
