Position Title: Pollution Control Officer / Safety Officer
Place of Assignment: Semirara Island, Caluya, Antique
Job Summary:
Ensure that all requirements for Environmental Management System and Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems are implemented, monitored and complied.
Ensure compliance with appropriate legislations through a range of interventions, including enforcement, education and advice either directly, or through supporting other teams.
Undertake inspections, investigations, monitoring, sampling and reporting of information required for all environmental and health and safety concerns.
Accountabilities:
- To participate in environmental pollution control and health and safety related operations and/or projects to ensure that various technical functions and associated work are performed effectively to set objectives, targets and programs.
- To create, amend and implement procedures, protocols and work instructions.
- To report to the plant Manager or other senior officers on all appropriate matters concerning the activities, duties, responsibilities of work area within the Team.
- To undertake appropriate training and /or study for personal or professional development and contribute to knowledge sharing initiatives and programmes.
- To undertake enforcement duties including the preparation of statutory notices, assist government agencies in relation to environmental and health and safety matters including but not limited to noise, air quality, contaminated land, environmental/health and safety permitting and reporting, and other environmental impacts / health and safety hazards.
- To supervise contractors and other third party providers in relation to the delivery of environmental / occupational health and safety monitoring and other services.
- To ensure that adequate records and databases are maintained including statutory registers to enable the efficient operation of the work of the Team and assist with the timely production of information and performance indicators.
- To assist in environmental and health and safety educational programs, promotions and publicity events.
- To represent the organization at meetings, working parties, interagency gatherings at local or national level.
- To maintain relationships with external and internal partners and stakeholders to ensure the delivery of key outputs and performance indicators.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of Mechanical Engineering or any related field; BOSH Training is an advantage.
- Must be a duly licensed engineer.
- With at least two (2) years of work experience in occupational safety, preferably in the renewable energy sector.
- Proficient in oral and writing communication, computer literate
- Organized, courteous, assertive and pro-active
- Willing to be assigned in Semirara Island, Antique.
