Platform Manager

Background

The Platform Manager role is a critical position responsible for overseeing platform operations, systems stability, service delivery coordination, vendor management and continuous improvement initiatives supporting business and operational requirements.

Job Qualifications and Skills Required

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience:

• 7+ years of experience in Network Administration, System Administration, and similar platform management capacities.
• Prior experience working in an IT/Computer group as a Network, System, and Database Administrator.

Core Technical Competencies:

• Deep understanding of IT Infrastructure, including WiFi and networking protocols.
• Ability to create enterprise-grade systems design and network architecture.
• Proficiency in SQL and database management (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server).
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash).
• Understanding of APIs, web services, and integration technologies.

Cloud & Frameworks:

• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS and Azure is a plus.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, and Change Management).

Preferred Certifications: CMMI, WiFi Networking, Microsoft Certification, Java, SQL, Oracle, and ITIL v3 Foundation certification.

Soft Skills:Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; customer-focused with a positive take-charge attitude; and the ability to work methodically under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Daily Operations: Oversee the day-to-day operations, performance, and availability of the enterprise platform.
2. Compliance & Security: Ensure platforms comply with regulatory, cybersecurity, and corporate IT policies and guidelines. Drive the remediation of audit findings and compliance checks on the platform environment.
3. Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the SME for the IT service infrastructure, network, security, and corresponding servers, applications, and databases.
4. Technical Support & Core Systems: Provide deep technical support for core systems and services like Outsystems, Microsoft Enterprise Applications (D365, Azure, etc.), and AWS Cloud.
5. Lifecycle Management: Perform Problem Management and Release Management. Coordinate upgrades, patch management, and lifecycle planning of enterprise systems.
6. Capacity & Continuity: Take primary charge of Capacity Management, Service Continuity Management, and Availability Management for all managed platforms.
7. Service Improvement: Analyze, recommend, and implement continuous service improvements. Provide regular Service Reporting of assigned platforms.
8. Service Transition: Thoroughly review transition activities to ensure that new services can be fully supported by the platform management team.
9. Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with internal and external support teams and business stakeholders to drive enterprise-wide platform initiatives, upgrades, migrations, and integrations.
10. Professional Development: Attend and complete technical training, leadership, and personal effectiveness programs.
