About The Role
As a
Planning Analyst/Assistant you will be responsible for assessing weekly store sales to identify root causes of performance changes versus expectations, reviewing merchandiser store visit reports to inform decisions, and escalating issues through to resolution. You will adjust store mud maps based on sales performance, adjacency rules, refits, new product lines, and discontinued items to optimize store results, while also tracking inventory receipts into stores and resolving any receiving issues as needed.
The ideal candidate has strong retail/FMCG sales analysis experience, excellent Excel and reporting skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across teams to drive results.
Responsibilities
- Assess weekly store sales, determine root cause for changes in sales week over week vs expected.
- Review Merchandiser Store visits reports to inform decisions about the store.
- Escalate issues as needed, and follow through to solutions.
- Adjust Store Mud Maps based on sales results, and adjacency rules, to improve store performance.
- Adjust Store Mud Maps based on Store refits, Newlines and Discontinued Products.
- Track the receipt of Inventory into stores, following through to completion, and escalating where necessary to resolve receiving issues.
- Important Note: A store mud map is a simplified visual layout of a retail store that shows where products, fixtures, and departments are placed.
Competencies And Qualifications
Must-Have
- 24 years of experience in a Store Planning Analyst, Store Analyst, Merchandise Planner, or Retail Analyst role, preferably with hands-on experience analyzing store sales, trends, and performance metrics
- Experience supporting multi-store or multi-channel retail operations
- Strong understanding of the in-store retail environment and how layout impacts performance
- Intermediate Excel proficiency, with comfort using formulas such as XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, MROUND, CEILING, and CONCATENATE
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
