Payroll Processing and Pay Accuracy:

  • Process weekly payrolls across all dealerships, ensuring accuracy and on time delivery.
  • Manage payroll inputs including commissions, allowances, overtime, timesheets, deductions, salary sacrifice, and FBT adjustments.
  • Distribute payslips and payroll outputs to dealerships in line with JMG timelines.
  • Maintain employee payroll records, including tax scales, HELP and HECS, super, bank details, and address changes.
  • Reconcile exceptions and resolve payroll variances promptly.

Terminations and Employee Pay Events:

  • Process all employee exits including resignations, terminations, redundancies and final payments.
  • Prepare and issue Separation Certificates and any required employment and payroll documentation.
  • Support managers and People and Culture with payroll components of employee relations matters where required.

Statutory Payments and External Obligations:

  • Administer monthly superannuation payments for all dealerships, including audits and reconciliation.
  • Process Child Support deductions and payments in line with notices and timeframes.
  • Administer Services Australia and Centrelink related employer functions, including Paid Parental Leave and termination related requirements, where applicable.
  • Ensure payroll compliance with ATO requirements.

Employee / Manager Support:

  • Act as the first point of contact for payroll queries across the business.
  • Respond to daily payroll and HR admin enquiries including leave balances, pay calculations, year to date figures, deductions, super, salary packaging, overtime, and payroll reports.
  • Provide clear guidance to employees and managers while maintaining confidentiality and discretion.

Systems and People and Culture Administration:

  • Maintain Employment Hero records including new starters, changes, and terminations.
  • Manage staff movement communications and ensure stakeholder visibility of employee changes.
  • Support WorkCover administration by liaising with insurers on claims and payments and maintaining registers and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with monthly new starter inductions and onboarding administration as required.

Reporting and Compliance:

  • Prepare month-end payroll and headcount reporting, including dealership reporting packs as required.
  • Produce weekly exception reports, timesheet reports, annual leave reports, and absence reporting.
  • Compile monthly remuneration and FBT reporting and provide support for finance reporting needs.
  • Conduct annual award rate audits and periodic compliance checks (including apprentice level audits).
  • Complete superannuation audits and address variances promptly.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Payroll experience in a multi-site environment; automotive retail or similar fast paced operations industry experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience running weekly payrolls end to end, including terminations and final pay compliance.
  • Experience using payroll and HR systems, ideally Employment Hero and Reward Gateway.
  • Qualification in payroll, accounting, finance, or business is a plus.
  • Strong Excel capability and comfort producing regular payroll and compliance reporting.
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll requirements including superannuation, tax, HELP and HECS, child support, salary sacrifice, and FBT concepts.
