Job Description

JOB OVERVIEW :

  • The Payroll Officer will support the delivery of outsourced payroll and related services to a portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and client requirements. The role will manage payroll calculations, client queries, payroll transitions, and compliance obligations, while providing high-quality service and supporting strong client relationships.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Managing a customised portfolio of clients and overseeing the delivery of payroll related services to existing clients
  • Working with the Payroll Manager to deliver outstanding service in an outsourced payroll environment in order to provide a centre of excellence
  • Preparing all payroll calculations, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail are adhered to at all times and delivered in a timely manner
  • Manage day to day client matters and identify any potential to expand service offerings
  • Attending to or facilitating client query responses in the appropriate manner
  • Planning and managing payroll transitions or implementations from other providers where required
  • Facilitating compliance with current legislation such as superannuation, Payroll Tax, PAYG and terminations
  • Follow and maintain a consistent approach to payroll processing for all clients with a strong focus on documentation for each client.

Financial & Internal requirements:

  • Daily input of time into client practice management system
  • Regular communication with client managers on priorities and actions
  • Highly responsive to emails and communication from client managers & Partner
  • Awareness to time, budget and KPI expectations
  • Provision of queries to client managers
  • Filing of relevant client information to the relevant internal database

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: BS Accountancy graduate or related accounting discipline
  • Years of Experience: 1–3 years of extensive Australian payroll experience
  • Industry Exposure: Australian payroll environment, outsourced payroll services, or professional services
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of payroll processing, payroll calculations, superannuation, Payroll Tax, PAYG, terminations, and payroll compliance requirements; ability to manage payroll transitions and implementations; experience handling client payroll queries
  • Soft Skills: Strong commitment to quality service and client relationships; Assumes responsibility and accountability, achieves buy in; Organizes time and resources to achieve aims; Is willing and driven, takes a proactive approach; Ability to work autonomously; Strong attention to detail; Aptitude for numbers; Presents self in a professional manner
  • Accounting System/ Software experience or knowledge: Experience with payroll systems, preferably SaaS-based payroll platforms; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Certificates or Licenses: CPA or Non-CPA
  • Language Requirements: Strong written and verbal English skills
