Your Role:

As a Payroll Lead, you will:
  • Coordinate and ensure compliance for payroll, taxation, superannuation, Workcover, employee entitlements, and novated leases across all United Group divisions in accordance with relevant Agreements, Awards, EBAs, and legislation.
  • Liaise with the outsourced payroll provider to ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing.
  • Prepare payment files for employee pays and statutory payments, including PAYG and superannuation.
  • Reconcile payroll reports to the general ledger and superannuation clearing house.
  • Prepare and lodge payroll tax for the group and manage Workcover insurance premiums, including rateable declarations and claims.
  • Administer employee entitlements such as annual leave, sick/personal leave, and long service leave.
  • Support HR in processing new starters, terminations, and redundancy calculations.
  • Monitor and maintain payroll service levels, updating documentation and procedures as required.
  • Respond to payroll queries escalated from the outsourced provider and verify outputs for accuracy.
  • Maintain payroll files, records, and correspondence in an organized manner.
  • Provide payroll and HR-related reports as instructed by HR and business leaders.
  • Process monthly payroll journals and provide administrative support to ensure smooth payroll operations.
  • Assist the HR team with general administrative tasks to support business objectives.
What You Need:
Non-negotiables
  • Minimum of 3 yearsu0027 experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
  • Finance qualification or equivalent.
  • Solid experience in Award and statutory interpretation and legislation.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and numeracy.
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines.
Preferred skills/expertise
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel, Outlook, Word, and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with employees, co-workers, and managers.
  • Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality on all payroll and personnel matters.
  • Experience contributing to HR team goals and meetings.
