Job Summary
The Senior Payroll Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll accounting, reconciliations, reporting, and compliance with organizational policies. The role works closely with payroll operations, finance, treasury, system teams, and country offices to ensure payroll data integrity and correct general ledger postings.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate monthly payroll account closures and ensure timely posting of payroll accounting files.
- Support country offices with reconciliation of payroll-related general ledger accounts.
- Act as focal point for payroll accounting queries in coordination with payroll operational teams.
- Ensure correct mapping of payroll elements to the general ledger in coordination with Finance.
- Monitor and clear payroll suspense accounts (salary holds, advances, etc.).
- Liaise with system teams to ensure accurate posting and reconciliation of staff salary expenses.
- Coordinate with Treasury to ensure payroll source banks are correctly mapped and updated.
- Ensure compliance with payroll policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Develop and update SOPs, work instructions, and payroll accounting reports.
- Support audit-related activities and provide payroll accounting reports as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field with 4 years of relevant experience, or
- High school diploma with 7 years of relevant experience.
- CPA or equivalent professional certification is an advantage.
- Experience in payroll accounting, auditing, or corporate payroll operations.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, banking processes, and internal controls.
- Experience with SAP or Oracle HR/payroll systems is an advantage.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems, salary calculations, and payroll accounting processes.
- ERP functional knowledge is an advantage.
- High level of computer literacy and attention to detail.
