Job Description

Job Summary

The Fixed Assets & Project Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the accounting, reporting, and control of capital assets and projects across Elsevier. This role ensures accurate capitalization, depreciation, and project cost tracking in compliance with IFRS, RELX accounting policies, and internal control requirements, while supporting business partners and driving process efficiency within the R2R function.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise endtoend fixed asset and project accounting activities, including capitalization, depreciation, asset transfers, disposals, project cost tracking.
  • Ensure accurate accounting treatment of capital expenditures, internally developed software, and strategic investment projects
  • Oversee monthend, quarterend, and yearend close activities related to assets and projects, including reconciliations to the general ledger
  • Maintain integrity of the fixed asset register and project cost structures within Fusion
  • Review and approve asset additions, project settlements, and capitalization entries
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, RELX policies, and SOX/internal control standards
  • Act as key contact for internal and external audits related to fixed assets and capital projects
  • Partner with Fusion Tech Support, Product, Procurement, and Finance Business Partners to provide guidance on capitalization, budgeting, and financial governance
  • Prepare and review management reports on CapEx, project spend, and asset balances
  • Lead, coach, and develop accounting team members and promote continuous process improvement and standardization

Qualifications

  • Must have degree in Accounting, CPA is preferred.
  • Must have 3-5 years work experience.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years supervisory experience.
  • Experience in Fixed Assets or Project Accounting
  • Excellent MS Excel skills.
  • Experience with major enterprise accounting systems such as Oracle, SAP or PeopleSoft.
  • Experience in medium to large company environment.
  • Experience in business control is a plus
  • Experience in large multinational company preferred
  • Good English communication skills required.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply enterprise AI tools and technologies to support technical workflows and business objectives.
