By leveraging a global network of passionate volunteers, the organization designs and implements comprehensive prevention, mitigation, and response strategies to foster safer communities. Established in 2019 in Manila, Philippines, and now based in California, Breaking Silence is committed to GBV advocacy, survivor support, and education. Role Description

This is a volunteer, remote role for an Operations Lead. The Operations Lead will oversee and coordinate organizational operations, ensuring efficient workflows and alignment with Breaking Silence's mission to end gender-based violence. This role plays a central part in supporting the organization's day-to-day functioning by strengthening systems, improving coordination, and ensuring initiatives move forward smoothly.

Key responsibilities include managing volunteer onboarding and offboarding, refining internal processes, supporting project management efforts, and helping ensure timely and consistent execution of organizational initiatives. The Operations Lead will work closely with the Executive Director and team leads to foster strong cross-functional communication, maintain clear documentation, and support accountability across teams. Through this work, the Operations Lead helps create the operational foundation that allows Breaking Silence's programs, advocacy, and survivor-centered efforts to operate effectively and sustainably.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee and coordinate day-to-day organizational operations to ensure workflows are efficient, consistent, and aligned with organizational priorities
  • Manage volunteer onboarding and offboarding processes, supporting a smooth, organized experience for team members
  • Maintain and improve internal systems, documentation, and operational processes to support collaboration and accountability
  • Support project coordination and initiative tracking, helping teams stay aligned on timelines, responsibilities, and deliverables
  • Foster clear cross-functional communication by coordinating between teams and leadership as needed
  • Identify operational gaps and inefficiencies, and propose practical solutions to strengthen sustainability and execution
  • Support the Executive Director and team leads with operational and administrative needs as they arise

Qualifications

  • Experience or demonstrated interest in operations, administration, project management, or nonprofit support
  • Open to college and graduate students, as well as early-career professionals with relevant experience; academic credit may be available if required
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple workflows, deadlines, and priorities
  • Experience supporting or coordinating volunteer, intern, or remote teams
  • Comfort working with operational tools such as Google Workspace, shared drives, task trackers, and documentation systems (e.g., Notion, Asana, Trello, or similar)
  • Ability to document processes, maintain trackers, and improve internal systems over time
  • Clear and thoughtful communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented, with strong follow-through and ownership
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Alignment with Breaking Silence's mission to end gender-based violence and commitment to survivor-centered values
