Job Description

Purpose:

The Offshore Operations Engineer ensures safe, efficient operation and maintenance of production, utility, subsea, and marine systems on the Malampaya Platform. The role is accountable for equipment integrity and reliability, supports testing and calibration programs, and oversees maintenance activities as Area Authority within the Permit to Work (PTW) system, in compliance with Prime Energy standards and objectives.

THE ROLE

Operations & Maintenance:

  • Operate and maintain offshore systems in line with company standards.
  • Ensure availability, reliability, and integrity of critical equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment testing.
  • Implement testing, calibration, and maintenance strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records in SAP and integrity systems.

Permit to Work & Area Authority:

  • Serve as Area Authority, ensuring safe work execution under PTW.
  • Approve permits, verify isolations, and manage worksite safety.
  • Monitor ongoing activities and validate compliance with procedures.

HSSE & Compliance:

  • Promote strong HSE performance and regulatory compliance:
  • Participate in risk assessments, hazard management, and emergency response.
  • Support environmental and waste management initiatives.

Team & Competency Development:

  • Maintain and develop technical competencies
  • Support training and assessment of team members.
  • Contribute to shift handovers and operational communication.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Manage overrides, inhibit, and alarm suppression with proper controls
  • Support SIMOPS coordination and hazard identification.
  • Ensure accurate operational reporting and compliance.
  • Perform assigned operational roles as required by leadership.

Working Conditions:

  • Assigned to a remote offshore facility on a rotational schedule – 14/14 or 21/21 or 28/28
  • Exposed to challenging conditions, including heat, humidity, noise, and confined spaces.
  • Involves handling high-pressure hydrocarbons and hazardous substances (e.g., H₂S, mercury, benzene), requiring strict adherence to safety protocols and PPE use.
  • Subject to operational risks such as fire, explosion, working at heights, dropped objects, and emergency situations.
  • Requires strong focus on hazard identification, risk management, and maintaining a safe work environment in an isolated setting.

THE INDIVIDUAL

  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years offshore or hydrocarbon operations/maintenance experience.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in commissioning and plant st
  • art-up.Knowledge of PTW systems and process operations.
  • Proficiency in SAP or similar maintenance systems.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Open to working in shifting and rotating schedules.
