Position summary:
The Network Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving Visy's global network infrastructure. The role ensures the reliability, performance and security of network services across enterprise, manufacturing and remote locations. Working within the Network Operations team, the role provides operational support across LAN, WAN, wireless, SD-WAN and network security technologies. The Network Engineer manages incidents, problems and changes, coordinates with internal stakeholders and external service providers, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service reliability and operational efficiency. The role participates in a rotating on-call roster and provides after-hours support as required.

Safety:
- Maintain a safe working environment for employees, contractors and visitors.
- Identify and escalate safety risks within the technology environment.

Network Operations:
- Monitor, support and maintain enterprise network infrastructure across LAN, WAN, wireless, SD WAN, internet and remote access infrastructure.
- Support network security technologies including firewalls and secure connectivity services.

- Ensure network services remain reliable, secure and aligned with business requirements.
- Participate in on-call support and major incident response activities.
Incident, Problem and Change Management:
- Manage network incidents, requests and operational changes through to resolution.
- Perform technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis for recurring or complex issues.
- Implement corrective and preventative actions to improve service reliability.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with change management and operational processes.
Monitoring and Service Improvement:
- Proactively monitor network performance, capacity and availability using enterprise monitoring tools.
- Identify opportunities to improve network resilience, observability and operational efficiency.
- Support automation and standardization initiatives that reduce risk and manual effort.
- Contribute to continual service improvement across the network environment.
Vendor and Stakeholder Management:
- Coordinate with telecommunications providers, technology vendors and support partners to resolve service issues.
- Provide technical guidance and support to local site contacts and field service personnel.
- Maintain effective communication with stakeholders during incidents, service outages and planned changes.
- Develop strong working relationships with business and technology teams.
Documentation and Knowledge Management:
- Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, standards and operational procedures.
- Ensure configuration records and support documentation remain current.
- Share knowledge and support capability development across the team.
- Contribute to the establishment of consistent operational practices and support processes.

Key requirements:
Mandatory:
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 3 years experience in network engineering, network operations, or infrastructure support within a medium to large enterprise environment.
- Experience supporting enterprise network technologies, including routing, switching, wireless networking, WAN, SD-WAN and remote access solutions.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and resolving complex network incidents and performance issues.
- Experience working within incident, problem and change management processes.
- Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call roster and provide after-hours support when required.
Desirable:
- Experience supporting Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco Catalyst or Meraki technologies.
- Exposure to cloud networking in Azure, AWS or Google Cloud environments.
- Experience with network monitoring, automation or configuration management tools.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet NSE, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of enterprise networking concepts, protocols and technologies.
