Position Summary
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports for properties.
Duties & Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Accountant (General Accounting/Payroll) are listed below and should be considered non-exhaustive:
- Oversee daily and month-end bank, sales, and payroll reconciliations.
- Validate alignment of sales activity with POS systems.
- Supervise reconciliation of payroll disbursements against bank movements.
- Review and approve vendor payment journals and payment runs.
- Ensure adherence to approval workflows, cut-offs, and internal controls.
- Oversee fixed asset register, acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.
- Manage new store FA setup and capitalization in line with U.S. GAAP.
- Review and sign off on balance sheet schedules and reconciliations.
- Investigate variances and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- Act as primary liaison with client Manager and/or Senior Leaders, ensuring deliverable quality.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business management, financial management, accounting technology or related field
- Minimum of 4 to 7 years of work experience handling high-volume accounting transactions (general ledger, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, financial statement preparation, accounts receivable and accounts payable, month-end closing) in a real estate, leasing, commercial and residential, construction industry for a global brand.
- ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition Standard) to perform functions related Sales, A/R, and cash receipts
- ASC 842 Lease Accounting to perform functions related to the recording and maintenance of company's leases, ROU Assets, Prepaid Rent, Contingent Rent, Variable lease expenses, and other lease expenses.
- ASC 360 PPE experience, Strong knowledge in Construction in Progress (CIP), Preparation of Fixed Asset Rollforwards, Ability to build and maintain Dpreciation schedules, Reconcile month-end depreciation to GL.
- Payroll – strong knowledge in gross-to-net calculations, employer tax liabilities, benefit deductions and employer matches, accrued payroll, multi-state tax impact on payroll liabilities, OT calculations, blended rates, and shift differentials.
- Multiple years experience using ADP preferred.
- Previous work experience in ERP systems
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to communicate effectively and proactively with internal and external customers, all management levels, team members and co-workers
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel (i.e. VLOOKUP, Pivot table, Charts, and Graphs, etc.)
- Willing to work in night shift and amenable to work overtime and on holidays and weekend
