Primary Objective

The Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and optimizing data solutions using Microsoft Fabric's unified analytics platform. This includes managing data pipelines, integrating diverse data sources, enabling advanced analytics, and supporting business intelligence initiatives through Fabric's Data Engineering, Data Factory, Synapse, and Power BI workloads.

We are over 4500 staff globally and are growing extremely fast. We are investing heavily in a Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementation across the organization. This will be a transformational process change across the organization so if you are looking for an End-to-End reporting Guru you will touch everything related to data from TOA Enterprise Systems. We are growing fast, action-oriented, and the project is already underway.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to define data and information requirements for new reports, features, and analytics solutions.
• Design and implement data pipelines using Fabric Data Factory for ingestion, transformation, and orchestration.
• Build and maintain Lakehouse and Warehouse solutions in OneLake to support enterprise reporting and analytics.
• Integrate Power BI semantic models with Fabric datasets for optimized reporting.
• Create and validate solution designs using agile and lean methods, focusing on maximizing business value.
• Implement data transformations and orchestration using Fabric notebooks and pipelines, following best practices for scalability and maintainability.
• Use data to identify automation opportunities and improve operational efficiency.
• Leverage large datasets to address complex business challenges and deliver actionable insights.
• Apply Git-based version control practices to manage migration activities, track changes, and support rollback where needed.
• Provide accurate estimates, identify risks, and participate in agile planning sessions to ensure timely delivery.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for ongoing support and governance.
• Champion the adoption of Microsoft Fabric and TOA-Agile processes within the team and business.
• Provide training and guidance to users and stakeholders on Fabric capabilities and best practices.
• Contribute to data asset migration activities within Microsoft Fabric, including pipelines, lakehouses, notebooks, and semantic models.

Qualifications / Skills:

• Bachelor's degree with strong statistical, technical or analytical component: for example, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Finance or Statistics
• Microsoft Power BI, Azure Data Fundamentals, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement or Finance and Operations, Data Engineering, Data Science or similar certifications (Desirable but not essential)
• Microsoft Fabric Expertise: Develop, construct, test, and maintain data architectures within Microsoft Fabric, including OneLake, Lakehouses, and Data Warehouses.
• Strong experience in implementing Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers) for scalable and maintainable data solutions.
• Advanced proficiency in PySpark and Fabric Notebooks for data transformation, orchestration, and performance optimization.
• Align technical specifications (data streams, integrations, transformations, and storage) with business requirements using Fabric-native tools.
• Design and implement data ingestion and transformation pipelines using Fabric Data Factory.
• Hands-on experience with workspace migration migrating data assets, pipelines, semantic models, and lakehouses across Fabric/Power BI workspaces or tenants.
• Proficiency in Git/version control within Fabric including workspace Git integration with Azure DevOps or GitHub for migration tracking and rollback.
• Optimize ETL/ELT processes by leveraging Delta Lake and Parquet formats for performance and scalability.
• Strong experience in using APIs (REST) for data extraction and integration across multiple systems.
• Ensure data governance, security, and compliance through integration with Microsoft Purview.
• Identify opportunities to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality using Fabric's monitoring and performance tuning capabilities.
• Conduct research and apply advanced analytics, machine learning, and statistical methods using Fabric Data Science and Synapse Data Engineering.
• Prepare and model data for predictive and prescriptive analytics.
• Enable Power BI Direct Lake connectivity for real-time reporting and analytics.
• Provide expert advice on leveraging Fabric for data-driven decision-making across departments.
