Role Overview

As a Merchant Acquisition Officer, you won't just be acquiring merchants you'll be owning the growth of a key segment of our business. You'll think beyond sales targets to shape acquisition strategies, influence internal teams, and deliver an excellent merchant onboarding experience that reflects our values and regulatory responsibilities.

This role is ideal for a proactive, strategic, and self-directed professional ready to lead from the front and help us scale our merchant network with quality and speed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategically identify and pursue high-potential merchants across various industries (retail, e-commerce, logistics, services, etc.).
  • Take full ownership of the sales cycle, from prospecting to signed agreement.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and single point of accountability during onboarding.
  • Ensure all required documentation, KYC, and compliance processes (aligned with BSP and AMLA regulations) are completed accurately and promptly.
  • Analyze merchant trends and propose improvements to acquisition playbooks.
  • Take initiative to test and iterate outreach tactics or onboarding approaches.
  • Collaborate with product, marketing, and risk teams to fine-tune market-fit offerings.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with merchants from day one.
  • Conduct onboarding training, product walkthroughs, and business reviews.
  • Generate insights and reports on merchant acquisition, onboarding time, and conversion rates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 24 years of experience in merchant acquisition, partnerships, or business development in fintech, banking, or payments.
  • Familiarity with QRPH, POS systems, online payment gateways, or digital wallets.
  • Exposure to working with SMEs, enterprise clients, and digital platforms.
  • Demonstrated leadership mindset you take initiative, make decisions, and drive outcomes without waiting for direction.
  • Solid understanding of KYC/AML requirements and BSP regulations.
  • Exceptional communication, persuasion, and presentation skills.
  • CRM-savvy, and highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and fast-paced environments.
