Role Description
The Merchandising Specialist is responsible for end-to-end merchandising operations, including product planning, demand forecasting, ordering, allocation, replenishment, pricing, inventory management, and distribution. This role requires strong analytical capability and close coordination with retail stores, e-commerce platforms and corporate accounts to ensure optimal product availability, sales growth, and operational efficiency across all channels.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate demand forecasts and optimized product assortment through data analysis and historical sales trends
- Consolidate and analyze sales data from retail stores and e-commerce platforms to develop accurate forecasts
- Plan product assortments and allocations per channel, season, and sales performance trends
- Recommend reorders, product phase-outs, and new product introductions based on demand analytics and inventory performance
- Prepare purchase orders based on forecasted requirements and coordinate with supply chain for execution
- Monitor supplier lead times and work closely with logistics to ensure on-time delivery
- Ensure order accuracy and timely replenishment of key SKUs across all channels
- Track and analyze stock levels to ensure balanced allocation across retail and e-commerce channels
- Implement replenishment strategies to minimize stock-outs and overstocks using inventory data insights
- Monitor inventory turnover, sell-through, and stock aging, and initiate markdowns or stock transfers when necessary
- Develop and manage stock distribution plans aligned with sales performance, demand patterns, and store capacity
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field (preferred)
- Experience in merchandising, demand planning, inventory management, retail operations, or supply chain analytics
- Strong understanding of retail, e-commerce, corporate, and wholesale distribution channels
- Highly developed analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into business decisions
- Proficiency in MS Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, data analysis, forecasting models) and reporting tools
- Experience with inventory management systems, merchandising software, or ERP platforms is an advantage
- Ability to manage large datasets, identify trends, and support forecasting and planning processes
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced, data-driven environment
