Job Description
As a Merchandise Analytics & Space Optimization Senior Manager, you will be responsible for floor space allocation, subcategory mix optimization, sales per square foot modeling, inventory turn strategy, pricing architecture, markdown strategy, category performance analysis, and financial impact forecasting.
Requirements
- 7+ years of retail merchandise planning, allocation, or category analytics experience.
- Proven experience optimizing sales per square foot across multi-store retail chains.
- Advanced Excel proficiency including pivot tables and modeling.
Preferred
- Experience in off-price, thrift, fast-fashion, or high SKU retail environments (e.g., Value Village, TJX, H&M, Zara, Sport Chek softlines).
- Experience with retail BI systems and inventory planning tools.
- Strong understanding of open-to-buy planning.
- Experience improving inventory turns and margin through reallocation strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Retail Management, or related field.
Responsibilities
- Manage department-level floor space allocation (Women, Men, Kids, Home, etc.).
- Optimize subcategory mix (Denim, Athletic, Dresses, etc.).
- Model sales per square foot by category and store.
- Develop inventory turn strategy and improvement plans.
- Manage Good / Better / Best pricing architecture.
- Plan markdown ladder and clearance cadence.
- Coordinate seasonal category shifts and floor resets.
- Manage store size format allocation logic.
- Identify and rebalance underperforming categories.
- Develop backstock ratio reduction strategy.
- Conduct category contribution margin analysis.
- Lead quarterly category performance reviews.
- Build and maintain advanced Excel and BI dashboards.
- Analyze sell-through, aging inventory, and SKU productivity.
- Develop reallocation models by store format.
- Recommend targeted promotions based on overstock analysis.
- Partner with Visual Merchandising to implement planograms.
- Lead monthly commercial review meetings with Marketing, Operations, and Finance.
- Forecast financial impact of space adjustments and markdown strategies.

Successful candidates for this role will be rewarded with the following benefits:
- A total of five paid vacation days per year (additional days can be taken unpaid).
- A 5% raise per year guaranteed (additional raises or bonuses may be given for outstanding performance).
- A paid 15-minute break for every 4 hours of work.
- Healthcare benefits after 2 months of full-time work.
- Vacation days increase by 1 vacation day per year. I.e. after one year of employment, the total paid vacation days on year 2 would be six, on year 3 seven, etc.
