Medical Coding Operation Manager

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership & Management:

• Supervise and mentor medical coding staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for coding operations.

Operational Oversight:

• Monitor coding productivity and accuracy to meet organizational goals and compliance standards.
• Ensure timely completion of coding for inpatient, outpatient, and specialty services.
• Manage workload distribution and resolve operational bottlenecks.

Compliance & Quality Assurance:

• Ensure coding practices comply with ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and payer-specific guidelines.
• Conduct regular audits and implement corrective actions for errors or compliance issues.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and communicate updates to the team.

Collaboration:

• Work closely with billing, clinical documentation improvement (CDI), and revenue cycle teams to optimize reimbursement and reduce denials.
• Serve as a liaison between coding staff and other departments for issue resolution.

Reporting & Analytics:

• Prepare and present operational reports on productivity, accuracy, and compliance metrics.
• Identify trends and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and revenue integrity.
